Allegro 1000 series appliances are cost-efficient entry-level versions for 1 GBit/s to 10 GBit/s analysis of up to 10,000 servers. These network tools provide a highly accurate analysis of an entire location. Depending on the existing network traffic, this is enough for a complete analysis of all data from the several previous days which can be retrieved in real-time from the in-memory database. All Allegro 1000 appliances can be expanded with SFP+ ports, packet ring buffers and additional in-memory database storage. The SFP+ ports allow an analysis of both short- and long-range fiber connections. The Allegro 1000 series can also be transparently installed inline in Spanning Tree or LACP trunks to analyze port extension errors.

The portable Allegro 1000 and the Allegro 1200 are available as 1 U rack units. Both appliances have the same processing power. The Allegro 1000 is designed as a portable system and therefore has only one expansion slot. The Allegro 1200 on the other hand offers two slots, one for extended network ports and the other for a large internal hard disk. Both appliances can also be equipped with a high-speed NVMe SSD.

The basic versions of the Allegro 1000 and 1200 have 2 x SFP+ for 1 G and 10 G SFP modules, 5 x 1GBaseT for analysis and 1 x 1GBase-T as a management port. In addition, there are expansion cards for up to 4 x SFP+ ports, 2 x 10GBase-T ports, 4 x 1GBase-T ports, 2 x SFP28, 2 x QSFP28 or 2 x SFP+ with GPS connections for exact time stamps in the nanosecond range. The basic version is equipped with a 16 GB in-memory database. This can be expanded to 64 GB or 128 GB respectively.

Internal hard disks or NVMe SSD can be installed as ring buffers. With the NVMe SSD, a continous write speed of up to 10 GBit/s is possible. As with the Allegro 200, external USB3 HDDs or SSDs can also be connected.

Historical data traffic stored in the ring buffer can be extracted in Pcap format and further processed with Wireshark (for example).

The Allegro Virtual Edition combines flexibility with the well-known advantages of Allegro Network Multimeters. With the Allegro Virtual Edition, it is possible to perform live, pcap and historical analyses for virtual traffic with any number of connections and IP addresses. The intuitive and easy to use web interface of the Virtual Edition can be used by multiple users and enables network analysis without specialised hardware.

The Allegro Virtual Edition provides accurate and timely network statistics from virtual traffic in the same way as the Allegro appliances; analysing packets in real-time at wire speed. In addition, pcaps can be created and analysed from previously stored traffic from Layers 2 to 7, and existing pcaps can be analysed within seconds. It offers both comprehensive overviews and detailed statistics, including IP, MAC, L7 protocols and TCP transmissions.

The Allegro Virtual Edition is a scalable solution which can be adapted to the performance of your computer. On a notebook, the Virtual Edition is an ideal companion for portable analysis; on a server with sufficient RAM it is a powerful assistant to evaluate large pcaps. To make best use of all the functionality of the Allegro Virtual Edition, a correspondingly powerful computer is required.

Due to the large number of integrated analysis modules from Layers 2 to 7, the Allegro Virtual Edition offers comprehensive statistics and information on network traffic. This detailed insight helps to identify network problems such as microbursts on L2, TCP retransmissions on a specific host on L4, or top traffic originators for a specific protocol such as Windows updates.

For pcap analysis, the Allegro Virtual Edition is the ideal complement to Allegro hardware solutions.
