PIM Forensics – Passive Monitoring

AceAxis has developed a patented technology to address PIM testing in convoluted multi band 4G and 5G networks that can calculate PIM whilst the cell site is running with measurements taken from the tower base or BBU hotel. 

AceAxis PIM Detection products can accurately calculate and locate PIM in live cell sites using a small portable test box that can be left at the cell site for long-term monitoring if needed. Using a Graphical User Interface and instructions, the test process is simplified to ensure that complex test conditions are easy to check quickly and cost-effectively. AceAxis PIM Detection at its core, is a software algorithm processing I/Q information on the front haul interface.

AceAxis has ported its IPR to multiple platforms. These platforms will allow even more PIM capability to be provided for example root cause analysis of PIM, estimation of potential PIM Cancellation, possible and predictive modelling of the potential for PIM at the cell site.

PIM over CPRI test methodology

PIM over CPRI is a non-intrusive PIM test method that requires an optical tap inserted between the Baseband Unit (BBU) and Remote Radio Head (RRH). An IQ sensor is connected to the tap and a patented algorithm is used that analyses the baseband IQ data streams and measures PIM in the presence of real-time traffic. PIM over CPRI testing can be conducted at any cell site that has a BBU installed and site is carrying live traffic.
